We are sad to announce the death of Brooke Alexander.

Since founding Brooke Alexander, Inc. in 1968 Brooke worked with many of the most important contemporary artists for over 50 years. He collaborated with a number of master printers and fabricators to consistently publish innovative prints and multiples. Brooke was a member of both the International Fine Print Dealers Association and the Art Dealers Association of America. For many years he was a board member of the Foundation For Contemporary Arts as well as the Chinati Foundation.

The family asks that anyone wishing to acknowledge Brooke’s memory send a donation in his name to the Museum of Modern Art’s Department of Drawings and Prints.

Turtle is a master of the smaller image, which rely the cumulative effect of his pictures to result in a point of view that is at once contemporary and peripheral to much of the art made today.
