Born May 28, 1934, Dr. Betty Shabazz walked through this world as a nurse, a professor, a civil rights advocate, and a mother of six. She gave generously — of her knowledge, her heart, and her time. Today we pause to honor the fullness of who she was and the light she left behind. Happy Birthday, Dr. Shabazz. We carry you with us. 🌹

Thank you to for bringing this important story to the people.

Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz’s Malcolm in the Desert reframes her father’s legacy in a way that is both deeply personal and universally powerful. This is exactly the kind of conversation our community needs.

We are honored to be part of keeping this legacy alive.

We stand on the shoulders of giants. The love that Brother Malcolm poured into his people and the grace that Dr. Betty Shabazz carried in her bones — that is the foundation of this space. This is not just a center. It is a living legacy. A torch passed from elder to elder, ancestor to ancestor, generation to generation. We honor all who came before us and all who will come after. 🤍🕊️

“Some moments are hard to put into words, but this video says it all. 🕊️

A heartfelt thank you to for hosting such a meaningful Q&A at with Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz. What you’ll see in this video is a vivid picture of what took place at The Shabazz Center — a space that once held one of the most painful moments in history, transformed into a place where love and healing were poured back into the community.

Dr. takes us deep into her father’s inner journey — the spiritual transformation, the self-reflection, and the inner work that shaped and created the man the world came to know as Malcolm X. A man who didn’t just change himself, but changed the world.

Her new book Malcolm in the Desert tells that story in a way that has never been told before — through wisdom, love, and strength born out of unimaginable pain.

If you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, now is the time. 🙏🏾

Black hands built this country. Immigrant hands sustain it. And today, the same government that benefits from that labor wants to deport the very people who show up every day.

We cannot stand for it.

But the revolution isn’t just in the streets — it starts within. Do the work on yourself. Love yourself deeply. Because when you show up as your best self, your community feels it.

As Dr teaches us — self-work is the revolution. True love is the revolution.

Honor the hands. Protect the people. Do the work.
