From the studio to our gallery 🔨 🖼️

Bristol-based artist Beth Carter creates mythological hybrid forms that explore duality, transformation, power, and vulnerability. Her bronze sculptures often merge human and animal figures - bulls, birds, wolves - drawing on their symbolic presence in storytelling and archetypal myth.

Through these works, Carter bridges ancient narrative and contemporary emotion, inviting viewers to consider the ties between humanity and the natural world.

Fitting for Halloween? 🎃

This mummy-like work is by the collaborative duo Godley Brown, who create contemporary art from repurposed discarded materials. Their practice emphasizes sustainability, transformation, and material history - reimagining objects that have been cast aside into something new.

Pictured above: Spinal Tap (2024), constructed from bedsheets, gesso, and house paint on a wood frame.

VFA welcomes artist, , to the gallery! 💥

Growing up in suburban Long Island during the 1960s, Frankie Vinci came of age in a decade defined by extremes - love and hate, chaos and creativity. As a young songwriter, musician, and artist, he experienced firsthand a cultural revolution shaped by Bob Dylan’s words, the “Summer of Love,” and Woodstock’s legendary three-day festival.

Amid political turmoil, street riots, the Vietnam War, and the tragic assassinations of great leaders, Vinci’s generation - the “psychedelic generation” - found strength and hope in art and music. These “Wonder Years” continue to inspire his work today.

Through his Pop Art, Vinci reflects on that turbulent era, capturing both its beauty and darkness. Following his heart back to his roots, he pours raw emotion onto his canvases, preserving time itself in vivid, unapologetic color.
