Make public health playful again! ♥️

This 1986 Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) poster by Joseph Leonote III and Naakkve advocates for both protection and connection. While mainstream messaging in the ’80s was clinical and fearmongering, GMHC met the gay community on their level.

See this poster in person in our exhibition Love & Fury: New York’s Fight Against AIDS, on view at Poster House. Plan your visit through the link in our bio. 🔗

Happy birthday to one of the forefathers of functional poster design, Julius Klinger! 🎂

Looking back at our 2021 exhibition, Julius Klinger: Posters for a Modern Age, it’s clear his style hasn’t aged a day. Not bad for 150!

From the elegance of the Vienna Secession to the bold geometry of his ad campaigns, he proved that a single line and a sharp mind are truly powerful tools.

We’re still obsessed with this legendary WIPAG duck poster. 🦆 Is she hatching a genius marketing strategy or just trolling us from a century ago? The meaning remains unknown, but the graphic impact is loud and clear. 🥚

This 1910 poster for a traveling production of Uncle Tom’s Cabin features the character Marks, a lawyer and slave-owner who embodied the systemic cruelty of pre-Emancipation America.

Most striking, however, are the portraits of Abraham Lincoln and Harriet Beecher Stowe anchored in the upper corners. By framing Marks with these icons, the poster transforms a mere theatrical advertisement into a moral statement, positioning Stowe as a pillar of American history alongside the Great Emancipator himself.

In the heat of battle, a book was more than just bound paper—it was a vital tool for building morale. 📖

Our newest capsule exhibition, Reading Under Fire: Arming Minds & Hearts During Wartime, showcases original posters from across the United States and Europe that reveal how nations mobilized to provide a literary lifeline for soldiers during global conflict. See how books served as both a quiet escape and a powerful symbol of freedom during the world’s darkest hours.

Reading Under Fire: Arming Minds & Hearts During Wartime is now on view at Poster House. Plan your visit at the link in our bio! 🔗
