Licking Valley Heritage Society

Licking Valley Heritage Society We will collect and conserve artifacts, antiques, photographs and literature in order to educate our children and keep our history alive.

The museum will be open on Saturdays March through December from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. No Saturday hours in January and February. Please call (740) 763-4436 if you are interested in a tour on other days & times throughout the year.

A Licking Valley Heritage Society monthly meeting is this Saturday, March 28th, at 9:00 AM. The location is at Hanover Presbyterian Church. Photo: This iron piglet was found in piles of industrial waste at the Maryann Furnace site. It was one of the first major industries in the county. The iron manufacturing plant was destroyed by fire around 1854. Ironically, ingots called iron pigs were used in the process of making this little swine.

A Licking Valley Heritage Society monthly meeting is this Saturday, January 24th at 9:00 AM. The location is at Hanover Presbyterian Church. --- The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad was laid out in Hanover and Madison townships in the late 1840's and early 1850's. It is still in use today. B&O matches consisting of an outer sleeve with 4 packs of matches. Ca 1950/1960s.
