Thank You from the Tahquamenon Logging Museum

On behalf of everyone at the Tahquamenon Logging Museum, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who visited, volunteered, and supported us this season. Your enthusiasm for our breakfasts, events, and exhibits keeps the history of logging in the Upper Peninsula alive and well. Yesterday we served 475 breakfasts and had 100 people at our Rock the River car and motorcycle show.

From early mornings in the Cook Shack to evenings filled with music, stories, and laughter, it’s your presence that makes this place more than a museum—it makes it a gathering spot for community, friendship, and tradition.

We are grateful for every plate of flapjacks enjoyed, every memory shared, and every donation that helps us continue our mission. None of this would be possible without you. Again, a special thanks to our volunteers who gave us their most important gift; which was their time.

We look forward to welcoming you back next season for more good food, good company, and a continued celebration of our logging heritage. Until then, thank you for being such an important part of our story.

We’re serving up a double dose of food & fun:

🥞 Lumberjack Breakfast (7AM–Noon)
It’s our last one of the season — and we’re going out big. Imagine flapjacks, bacon, sausage, American fries, and eggs, all cooked over a wood-burning stove that’s been fired up since 5AM. Authentic, hearty, and downright delicious.
👉 $15 adults | $6 kids 12 & under | Coffee, milk, & juice included.

🚗 Rock the River Car Show (Immediately after breakfast)
Classic cars, shiny chrome, and this year… a little extra rumble with motorcycles! Admission is by donation.

📌 Friendly reminder: MDOT doesn’t allow parking on M-123. (We agree it’s a bummer, but hey — they make the rules, not us.)

After an unusual summer of delays, on behalf of the Tahquamenon Logging Museum, a giant THANK YOU for making our “Comeback Lumberjack Breakfast” a huge success! By the time the last flapjack flipped, the final egg cracked, and the bacon became only a memory, we had served 400 hearty breakfasts in the Cook Shack this past Saturday.

The rain politely held off, spirits stayed high, and even the folks waiting in line seemed happy to be part of something special. Of course, events like this don’t just stack themselves higher than a pile of cordwood — it takes volunteers. Some rolled up their sleeves on Friday to prep food, while even more showed up at dawn on Saturday to cook, serve, and scrub until the very last dish was washed. You are the true timber keeping this museum standing tall, and we’re grateful beyond measure.

If you joined us for breakfast and liked what you saw (and tasted), why not consider joining our volunteer crew or even our Board of Directors? We already know you can eat — now we’d love to have you help plan the fun, too!

Save the Date!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 27 — we’ll be serving up a double-shot of community spirit:
🥞 Lumberjack Breakfast from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m.
🚗 Rock the River Show and Shine Car Show from 12 – 4 p.m.

Questions? Call the museum at 906.293.3700 or reach out to Vicki Fall at 906.450.4028.

Until then, may your coffee be strong, your flapjacks fluffy, and your history well-preserved!

BREAKING NEWS!

We’re Back! Flapjacks Are Flying Again at the Cook Shack! 🪓🥞

Dear Friends of the Tahquamenon Logging Museum,

We’re thrilled to announce that the smell of coffee, bacon and flapjacks is once again drifting through the pines. That’s right — our much-loved Lumberjack Breakfasts are back! The first one is Saturday, August 23 from 7AM-Noon and the September breakfast is on the 27th. Cost is $15 for adults in an “all you care to eat” fashion, while kids 12 and under are $6.

Thanks to a lot of hard work (and more than a few bug bites), the Cook Shack restoration is finally complete. We rebuilt the floor using kiln-dried wood strong enough to support cast iron skillets, coffee pots the size of bathtubs, and the occasional wandering black bear (don’t worry — they’re more into berries than bacon). With repairs wrapped up and the griddles hot, we’re once again flipping pancakes for locals, tourists, and history buffs alike.

The museum board is always looking for people to join us as we plan our special events. We also need volunteers to help serve this delicious food (bonus: you’ll smell like bacon and maple syrup all day). Come check us out — we’re a welcoming crew, and we think you’ll enjoy hanging around with us as we serve the community and carry on the proud tradition of being caretakers of our rich logging history.

How You Can Help:
Join us for breakfast — bring your appetite and your curiosity
Volunteer a morning — help us greet guests, share stories, or just pour coffee with a smile
Get involved — serve on the board, help with events, or simply lend a hand when you can
Spread the word — tell your friends, visitors, and friendly strangers at the gas station

Contact the museum at 906.293.3700
or Vicki Fall at 906.450.4028

We’re grateful to everyone who supports the museum — whether through donations, elbow grease, or simply showing up hungry. It’s your dedication that keeps this place alive.
So come on down and visit. The coffee’s hot, the flapjacks are fluffy, and the stories are as rich as ever.

With gratitude and griddle grease,
Your friends at the Tahquamenon Logging Museum
