We are thrilled to announce that our latest exhibit, “Crossroads of Revolution,” is officially open!
This exhibit is part of our commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, highlighting Newberry County and South Carolina as part of the larger history of the Colonial Era and War for Independence.
Newberry County has an interesting and important history that is often over-shadowed by the bigger events in the State and by better known names of the Colonial Era and the Revolution, and yet Newberry County played a unique role in the war.
The exhibit seeks to offer a deeper understanding of Newberry’s past — a narrative that encompasses loyalists and patriots, as well as the internal struggles that impacted all residents, including women, Indigenous peoples, and individuals of African descent.
Additionally, situated behind the museum is an 18th Century Medicinal Garden, established in collaboration with the Nosegay Garden Club. This garden features numerous plants that were historically utilized for medicinal purposes during that time.
The Newberry Museum is open from Tuesday - Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
