Layers of acrylic and wax build real depth in this painting - you can see the texture, the movement, and the subtle shifts in color as you stand in front of it. At 40 x 50 inches, it has a strong, steady presence in the room without overwhelming the space. It’s one of our favorite works in the exhibition, and it’s even more striking in person.⁠

Spend the evening experiencing these new works up close. ✨🥂⁠
⁠
Each painting is developed through a slow and intuitive process of adding and subtracting. Shapes surface and recede evoking the suggestion of growth, erosion and movement. Built through nuanced shifts of color, the shapes are layered, veiled, and reworked creating depth through the interaction of translucent and opaque passages.⁠

We’re excited to present Where Forms Gather, the third solo exhibition with Newport Beach-based artist Elyse Katz. This newest body of work continues her exploration of abstraction, unfolding through layered surfaces and organic forms that invite you to slow down and take it in.⁠
