Our Story
Local artists of the New River Valley find a place to gather and work with each other at the ART BANK. Common working space in the gallery is available for all artists to enjoy as well as three resident studios currently occupied by artists Sue Hossack, Ava White Howard, and Judy Neihaus. The ART BANK, situated in the quaint village of Newport is just a few miles from Blacksburg, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Offering an array of opportunities for artists to collaborate via classes, art play days, exhibitions, and one on one instruction, the ART BANK is a center for creative expression. RESIDENT ARTISTS:
Sue Hossack - After a long career in software engineering, Sue retrained as an occupational therapist in 2003 and began painting since retiring five years ago. She has a degree in Pure Mathematics from the UK and a Masters in Occupational Therapy, but has had no formal art training other than local classes in acrylic, ink and drawing techniques. @suebeestudio. suehossack50.wixsite.com/portfolio Ava White Howard - Ava has lived and worked in the New River Valley most of her adult life since graduating from Virginia Tech in 1985. She holds bachelor's degrees in both Urban Affairs and Art and has intertwined her artistic endeavors with careers in transportation planning, graphic arts, personal training and fitness instruction. See some of Ava’s works at www.avawhitehoward.com Judy Neihaus - Judy has recently retired from a long career as a biology professor at Radford University. She has a passion for creating abstract art with an array of color and emotion.
