04/25/2026

ANNOUNCEMENT TIME:
Our historic ET&WNC Motorcar no. 2 has been returned to operation!
For the first time since late-2016, the 1940-built standard gauge Motorcar is back in operation and moving under it's own power, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic volunteers. It will make its official public debut at our National Train Day Celebration on May 9th. This will be the first time this Motorcar has operated for the general public here at the Museum, and although the Motorcar did operate for around 5 years on the Craggy Mountain Line Railroad a decade ago (and was displayed at Tweetsie Railroad's 2017 Railroad Heritage Weekend), many things have happened here for the first time since its days on the ET&WNC/East Tennessee Rwy., still known by many as the original "Tweetsie". And although it now operates on our tracks nearly 3 hours away from it's native line in east Tennessee, we're just getting started on this exciting new chapter in the life of one of the most rare (and historic) Motorcars in existence. Perhaps, it might even visit other railroads in the region! In the meantime, make your plans to celebrate with us on National Train Day... You never know what's just around the bend, so ALL ABOARD!!!
