THIS IS THE LAST WEEK to order my latest literary escapade entitled “Yankin’ Y’all’s Chain - The Misadventures of Marcel and Boudreaux.” If you love funny stories with a Cajun inspired twist, or you just need a few good laughs or know somebody who does, I hope you’ll get a copy or two. You can even drop by the gallery and read a few pages before you place an order.

You may have missed my previous offering entitled “Americana Collection - Original Poetry and Prose Rooted in Rural America.” You have the opportunity to order your copy of this one, as well. It’s also $15 + tax.

As with all my books, I appreciate advance orders with full payment. This keeps the book publisher happy since I have to pay for the entire order when I place it.

Our attendance may be a little low with vacations and other commitments, but we’ll be there playing, and it’ll be cool and comfortable inside. SOLD! “Prickly Pear Cactus in Bloom” 20x30 original oil on stretched canvas has found a new home in Durant, Oklahoma. What a blessing it is for our art to connect with others who so easily become our friends because of shared values and life experiences.

The painting is inspired by a photograph that our thoughtful daughter in love sent to me thinking it might make a good painting. It certainly did!

Oh my! Words cannot describe what it meant to us to have your attendance, your sponsorship support and your ticket purchases at The Mind’s Eye 60th Anniversary Celebration. You have helped us take some humble beginnings and turn it into something bigger than we ever imagined. This program benefits many graduating seniors throughout the county.

The “onstage playing” part is nothing but fun, even if we occasionally make a giant flub (Help me, Rhonda!), but the real work starts months before the day of the show. We couldn’t and likely wouldn’t do it without your help and enthusiasm. I’m sure the other band members will express their thanks in due time, but from me personally, thank you so very much for making this all possible.

THIS SATURDAY EVENING at the Veranda Event Center on East Hwy. 82 in Nocona, Texas, we’re celebrating America’s 250 Birthday and The Mind’s Eye 60th Anniversary of our founding. Doors open at 4:30. Music kicks off at 5:00 pm. A few seats left at $20 each. Bring your own snacks and drinks, or purchase some on site from Donna D’s. Great oldies rock, folk rock, and rockabilly tunes from the golden era of music. Proceeds go to support scholarships for graduating seniors from Montague County high schools. Don’t miss it! It’ll be an evening to remember.

We are still making art at our gallery and currently working on some wonderful commissions, but our energy has been directed toward The Mind’s Eye Scholarship Concert for the past few days (or months!!!). We will be closing at noon on Thursday to begin setting up for the show this Saturday. Classic rock, folk rock, and rockabilly tunes kick off at 5:00. Don’t miss it!
