Dr. Deni Seymour, seen this?
Here's another PPHS collection item on loan: a Spanish halberd currently on display at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. It's part of an exhibition about the rise and fall of nations in Texas until Mexican Independence in 1821.
This metal halberd head was discovered in 1925 near Happy, Texas. Spanish explorer Coronado traveled through this area in 1541, and halberds were included in the Coronado expedition's inventory of equipment. (The wooden pole is a reproduction.)
We've loaned a few other items to the Bullock. They will be displayed later this summer. Photos courtesy: Bullock Texas State History Museum
