The City of Alexandria Public Art Program is seeking mural artists to apply for their Mural Artist Roster for upcoming public art opportunities in Alexandria beginning in Summer 2026.

Open to muralists living in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, the roster will serve as the primary resource for selecting artists for City-commissioned interior and exterior wall murals, ground murals, street murals, and participatory mural projects. Professional and emerging muralists 18+—especially those who collaborate with youth and communities in developing concepts and installing projects—are encouraged to apply.

Join us THIS Friday, May 29 at 6:30 PM for a special Shabbat service featuring guest speaker Jason Schachter McKinney — singer, actor, composer, author of Jason Belongs, and Music Director and Cantorial Soloist at Temple Emmanuel in Winston-Salem, NC.
Through music, storytelling, and reflection, Jason will explore Jewish diversity, identity, and belonging, including an original composition woven into the worship experience.
Presented in celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month in partnership with the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater.

Norfolk Arts is partnering with The Chrysler Museum of Art to bring this Free event to the historic Attucks Theatre featuring Grammy-winning rapper, wordsmith, and torchbearer for Hip-Hop culture, Mad Skillz and songwriter and co-chair of the Black Music Collective, Torae!

Enjoy live performances from Bobby BlackHat, Hot Gumbo Brass Band, Norfolk Arts grantee Shark City Drum and Dance, Leviticus Gospel Choir, and FORTRESSES.

Hear from Teens With a Purpose’s newly named Youth Poet Laureates, engage in Music & The Movement with Delegate Jackie Glass, and meet local artists selected by Nyree Dowdy of the Chrysler Museum to exhibit their work as part of our current Gallery at the Attucks exhibition, "Rhythm of the Stage". Nyree, podcaster Kayda Plus and featured artist Briana Ariel will be conversing about art and living a creative life.

Experience a behind the scenes look at today's music industry with Creatives For Virginia while being immersed by art that reflects the depth, creativity, and influence of Black culture.
