Pug Paloma has just returned from her first ever sailing flotilla. She boarded at midnight on Thursday night, and disembarked during Tuesday’s sunset. She took the whole weekend to adapt to her confinement and reduced bathroom schedule, but found her corners, her comfort, and her peace of mind.

We look forward to Fall sailing with this little miscreant. Our last of the brood.

Mother Pugger is feeling her oats these days. She has gaping open mouth disease, which does not affect her appetite, but does affect her intake.

She’s a trouper! And we are loving her a little more gently, a little more tenderly, a little more poignantly.

She enjoyed a very long snuggle for Mother’s Day.

It’s high noon for the climate. There are no early birds, anymore. Those who act from today forward, are racing the setting sun.

The garden will come back to life this spring and summer. We will hand hack a red maple into topiary submission. We will reduce and replant the roses. We will uproot and burn the blighted boxwood and reseed the small plot with grass for pug and people alike.

In the year 2017 of our lord, Erik and Kirby and two naughty pugs chose the most humble tree that could be found in a sea of perfect thousands on an idyllic farm in the hills of North Carolina. After double strapping down, pinky carried the Charlie Brown wonder more than 750 miles to the side street parking of Jersey. With stops in Virginia and DC, numerous errands, and with no room where Christmas used to be, the poor tree sat atop poor Pinky until shame and weather had set in. Another solid week on the porch, and one on the hallway floor, she is now proudly erected on the FRāMist work table, where with open arms and tarred hands, it will be lights, ornaments, and action!

Merry Christchanukahmus Bush!
