Braddock's Battlefield History Center

Braddock's Battlefield History Center Our museum tells the story of the July 9, 1755 Battle of the Monongahela, “Braddock’s Defeat.”

Braddock's Battlefield History Center is a museum that stands on the very ground where the Battle of the Monongahela — better known as “Braddock’s Defeat” — took place. It is the most widely recognized battle of the French and Indian War (1754-1763) which developed into the first world-wide great powers conflict, the Seven Years’ War (1756-63). This battle was crucial to the military education of

a young George Washington and helped inform his destiny as commander of the Continental Army in the American Revolution.

BBHC education department extends a heartfelt thank you to the West Jefferson Hills School District for recently welcoming young George Washington to speak with its second and fourth grade students. Colonel Washington enjoyed meeting this enthusiastic group of young learners and sharing stories about the Battle of the Monongahela and other experiences in Western Pennsylvania.

A tip of the tricorn hat goes to Dr. Sardon, Dr. Kuhse, and teachers Nicole August and Lauren Sciotto for coordinating the fun experience for us and their students.

We look forward to teaming up with you during the 2026 - 2027 school year!

Stop by the BBHC this weekend and see the historical silhouettes created by Day participants.

A HUGE THANK YOU to West Mifflin Area High School Art Teacher and professional artist, Zac Rutter for sharing his time, talent and helping instill a love of art and history for participants.

Zac also showed how he uses mixed media to create art pieces that celebrate the community's rich history.

Fun fact! Zac was a student of retired teacher and current BBHC education manager Glenn Gougler who is proud of Zac and all his former students' successes.
