Braddock's Battlefield History Center

Braddock's Battlefield History Center Our museum tells the story of the July 9, 1755 Battle of the Monongahela, “Braddock’s Defeat.”

Braddock's Battlefield History Center is a museum that stands on the very ground where the Battle of the Monongahela — better known as “Braddock’s Defeat” — took place. It is the most widely recognized battle of the French and Indian War (1754-1763) which developed into the first world-wide great powers conflict, the Seven Years’ War (1756-63). This battle was crucial to the military education of

a young George Washington and helped inform his destiny as commander of the Continental Army in the American Revolution.

Stop by the BBHC this weekend and see the historical silhouettes created by Day participants.

A HUGE THANK YOU to West Mifflin Area High School Art Teacher and professional artist, Zac Rutter for sharing his time, talent and helping instill a love of art and history for participants.

Zac also showed how he uses mixed media to create art pieces that celebrate the community's rich history.

Fun fact! Zac was a student of retired teacher and current BBHC education manager Glenn Gougler who is proud of Zac and all his former students' successes.

Thank you to teacher Matt Stagl from Carlynton School District for bringing 75 amazing students to the BBHC recently. Students had the chance to meet a young George Washington, learn about a soldier's life in the 18th century, man a cannon, write with a quill pen, and experience a live artillery firing. There were lots of smiles and learning all day long!

Special shout out to Roman Benty and Doug Khorey from LIGHT Education Initiative for the pizza and for making this happen!
