Whether we are serving our companies, communities or families, being good stewards of what we have been given is a privilege and an important way to build a legacy. Personally and professionally, I have endeavored to prioritize being a positive steward of the environment because of how strongly I believe in our collective potential to leave our planet better than we found it. Just imagine the world we could leave for future generations if we each committed to doing our part. I recently sat down to reflect on how even the smallest actions, when done consistently, can contribute to a more vibrant tomorrow. hashtag hashtag hashtag

During this time of giving thanks for all that we have been blessed with, let’s not forget those in need and the great work done by local food banks.

Food banks across the country will enter this holiday season with their resources strained. Inflation is squeezing donations as demand continues.

The Third Annual Plastic-Free Waters Kiawah Island Sweep was a success! Many thanks to all who came out to support the event!

On September 17, approximately 40 people picked up and documented 2,895 debris items. "We were in excellent company with thousands of people across South Carolina participating in the Beach Sweep/River Sweep and millions from more than 150 countries participating in the International Coastal Cleanup," said Kelly Thorvalson, the Conservation Programs Manager for the South Carolina Aquarium. "Litter sweeps with data collection provide valuable insight into debris that ends up in the natural environment. By leveraging this data, we can help inform solutions to plastic pollution, one of the greatest environmental threats of our time."

This sweep was made possible through Pam and D. Michael Wilson Plastic-Free Waters, a South Carolina Aquarium program aimed at mitigating plastic pollution impacts through outreach, community engagement and conservation fieldwork across South Carolina.
