The deck in our backyard is underway and it is expected to be completed in July, where we will be ready to host more events! This space is approximately 1200 square feet and is situated under a 300 year old oak tree. It’s a perfect spot for social gatherings, Museum events, and even to have lunch before or after touring the Museum!

🐢 It’s Sea Turtle Nesting Season!🐢

Living in our beautiful beach community comes with so many perks, and one of the most exciting ones is the arrival of Sea Turtle Nesting Season! These magnificent creatures grace our shores each year to lay their eggs, and witnessing this natural wonder is truly awe-inspiring.

But with this excitement comes great responsibility. It's crucial that we all do our part to protect these precious turtles and their nests during this sensitive time. That's why it's important to know the do’s and don'ts for Sea Turtle Nesting Season.

🚫 Don't disturb nesting turtles or their nests.
🚫 Don't shine lights on the beach at night, as it can disorient hatchlings.
🚫 Don't leave any trash on the beach, as it can harm turtles and other marine life.

✅ Do fill in any holes you dig on the beach, as they can trap nesting turtles.
✅ Do keep your distance if you encounter a nesting turtle, and observe quietly from afar.
✅ Do report any injured or stranded turtles to the North Myrtle Beach Sea Turtle Patrol at (843) 213-9074

TODAY Saturday, May 2nd at 11 AM Shark Tooth Charles will be discussing about shark teeth and fossils that are commonly found on our beach. This event is free and suitable for most ages!

Today is the beginning of SOS (the Society of Stranders), where s**g dancers from across the country come to Main Street in North Myrtle Beach to dance, compete, have fun, but most importantly reunite with one another and keep s**g dancing a tradition here in North Myrtle Beach.

What a great turnout for the North Myrtle Beach Sea Turtle Patrol meeting! We appreciate all that you do for our community but also for the sea turtles! We hope for another successful sea turtle nesting season and we look forward to the upcoming Turtle Talks this year! 🐢
