The Northville Historical Society is proud to announce the return of Open House Sundays at Mill Race Village, beginning June 7 and continuing through October 18, 2026.

Each Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the historic buildings of Mill Race Village will be open to the public for tours and exploration. Knowledgeable volunteer docents will be stationed throughout the village to share the stories of the historic structures, the development of Mill Race Village, and the rich history of the Northville community.

As part of this year’s Open House experience, the Hirsch Museum will feature a special exhibit titled “250 Years of Toys and Treats,” proudly sponsored by local business, Kilwins Northville. The exhibit celebrates America’s 250th anniversary by exploring the evolution of childhood play and sweet treats from 1776 through 2026.
Visitors will enjoy viewing a private collection of vintage toys representing generations of American childhood, along with a fascinating display of candy-related artifacts and memorabilia provided by the exhibit sponsor. The exhibit offers a nostalgic journey through two and a half centuries of toys, confectionery traditions, and popular culture.

Open House Sundays and the Hirsch Museum exhibit are free and open to the public. Families, residents, history enthusiasts, and visitors of all ages are encouraged to attend and discover Northville’s history while celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

Mill Race Village, located at 215 Griswold Street in Northville, is a living history museum operated by the Northville Historical Society. The village preserves and interprets Northville’s heritage through its collection of restored historic buildings, educational programs, exhibits, and community events.

A little rain can’t stop activity at Mill Race Village. Volunteers came to help with the cleaning of village buildings and grounds AND the dedication ceremony of the new Veterans Honor Plaza was held. Many thanks to the volunteers that helped (Stone Gang, NHS staff and board, Northville VFW members and scouts, local residents). Upkeep truly takes a village and we are grateful for your time and support.
