🇺🇸 Today we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
🇺🇸 PFC Henry W. Cook Jr.
2/24/1930 – 9/6/1950
🇺🇸 Private First Class Cook was a star student and athlete at Nyack High School, earning varsity letters in track, football, boxing and wrestling. He graduated in 1948. PFC Cook was a member of the 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was severely wounded in the Battle of Haman and later died from his injuries on September 6, at the age of 20. His dream was to be a professional boxer. According to accounts, he is the only Nyack man killed in action in the Korean War. He rests at Mount Moor Cemetery in West Nyack.
