Our initial mission was to preserve the PBY-5A aircraft and all seaplanes once based at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island seaplane facility on Whidbey Island. Now mission covers naval aircraft that have been based and flown in the Pacific Northwest from 1920 to the present day. Beginning with the past and moving through to the present day, young and old alike will enjoy a memorable journey thro

ugh history at the PBY Memorial Foundation’s Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum located in Oak Harbor Washington. From displays dedicated to all wars and conflicts from WWII to today, to impressive artifacts, two flight simulators and more, the Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum promises to educate and entertain! When you need a job done right, call Michelle! Local Oak Harbor General Contractor Michelle O'Kelley volunteered to paint our vestibule for us, single-handedly.

We are so grateful for her help, her meticulous attention to detail, and her spirit of get-it-done-ness! Our new vestibule wall looks FANTASTIC and soon, we'll be able to hang our Mission Statement for all who enter our new museum to see and appreciate!

We’re lucky to have community members like Michelle willing to lend their time and talents to help make our museum even better.

✈️ Last chance to tour the interior of our PBY Catalina this season! PBY tours will close for the season after Labor Day, so if you’ve been wanting to experience the inside of this historic aircraft, now is the time.

📞 To schedule a tour before the season ends, call the museum and ask for Kelly by noon on Friday, Sept. 4

🛩️ A few things to know:
• Tours are weather dependent.
• $5 per person for ages 12 and up.
• Museum admission is not included with the tour price.

Imagine your town tripling in population in just a few years. When the military began building the bases in the Oak Harbor area, more than 4,300 acres were acquired and approximately 20 families relocated inland. By 1946, Oak Harbor's population had tripled.

The arrival of the bases changed this community and the people who lived through that time have stories to tell.

During your visit to the Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum, stop by our theater to watch interviews with local residents and hear first-hand how Oak Harbor changed.

Today, Vehicles For Veterans visited the Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum to pick up a historic Korean War-era vehicle donated by PNWNAM.

This special partnership allows the museum to pass along a piece of history while helping support disabled veterans nationwide through Vehicles For Veterans.

PNWNAM Executive Director, Barry Meldrum, also had the opportunity to share more about this meaningful partnership during an interview.
