Oakdale Museum & History Center

Oakdale Museum & History Center Located in the historic Sydnor-Prowse House, the Oakdale Museum is the oldest building in Oakdale, dating back to 1869.

It houses artifacts, memorabilia and photographs of Oakdale’s history. This page is meant to share a bit about the history of our great little town. Most people are not aware that we have civil war troops buried right here, or that the hwy was once an Indian trail. If you have a question, just ask.....we are happy to share the history. If you want to know more, come visit us at the museum....we ar

e happy to talk and or help with the research. The page is also managed by several people, who may or may not all appear as Oakdale Museum :)

Thanks to Oakdale Morning Market for making us the featured non-profit organization this morning. It was our special privilege to honor some of Oakdale’s past veterans on this Memorial Day weekend. Two of our City Councilmen, Jeff Kettering and Jarod Pitassi took our Oakdale history challenge and both aced it! Thanks also to museum volunteers Gary Jones and Linda King for always being on hand to make things happen!

Thank You Oakdale!

We were recently delighted to receive an original painting by Doug Kolsters to add to our railroad exhibit. Doug graciously donated the charming piece after it received the “Mayor’s Choice” award in a local show. His inspiration was a photograph of downtown taken when the big “Oakdale City of Almonds” sign hung over F Street and steam locomotives stopped traffic at the intersection of F and Yosemite. Kolsters also paints landscapes, seascapes and residential portraits. Visit us Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm to see the painting and learn more about Oakdale’s history!
