Thats a wrap! Swipe to view scenes from our de-install day.

It’s always bittersweet to watch an exhibit come down — a mix of sadness as the walls return to silence, and deep gratitude for the community that made it all possible.

We are profoundly thankful for the incredible village of volunteers who showed up from near and far, lifting, carrying, and caring with us every step of the way. Your hands and hearts helped us lovingly close this chapter of the Lost Childhoods exhibition.

Thank you for helping us honor these stories, from installation to the very last moment.

Foster Youth Museum had the privilege of connecting with over 20 Guardian Scholars at Sacramento State University. After an hour-long tour of the Lost Childhoods exhibition, we gathered to discuss storytelling, advocacy, healing, and identity—while sharing food and creating art together.

Together, we talked about what it means to break cycles, set boundaries with toxic family members, and how we create community with strangers when we are working towards common goals. The students showed incredible resilience, insight, and dedication. Being in their presence reminded us of the strength and brilliance within foster youth communities.

We are truly grateful and honored to be in such meaningful connection.

💬 A reflection from our founder, Jamie Lee Evans:

“As a former foster youth who used education to propel me forward in this world, I feel elated to work with other foster youth students who are working toward bachelor’s and master’s degrees.”

Back in June of this year, the Foster Youth Museum was featured on CBS News’ Good Day Sacramento , where the incredible advocate Jennifer Rodriguez walked viewers through the exhibit — sharing not only what the museum represents, but also pieces of their own story held within it.

This interview, filmed on June 11, beautifully highlights why this work matters: real experiences, real voices, and real journeys toward healing and hope.

REMINDER

Our exhibit at the Sacramento State Library Gallery is still open to the public until Saturday, December 6, 2025. We invite you to come witness these powerful stories firsthand.
