Thank you to everyone who came out for the 2026 Silver River Knap-In & Prehistoric Arts Festival this last weekend! We had fun, learned a lot and made some new friends.

Special thanks to Mark Harrison of Omnivore's Homestead and Quivers! When a local archery group who had committed to run our public archery range canceled 48 hours before the event, Mark mobilized Volunteers and made it happen. There were many happy guests and youngsters who were introduced to traditional archery! Great job Mark and team!

The Edgefield Scraper is a unique tool that likely dates to the Early Archaic period (about 7,000-9,000 years ago). This scraper is thickly made from a large flake. They are unifacial except for the base which is bifacially flaked and resembles a Bolen.

They are usually heavily resharpened on the left side which creates an asymmetrical point (some of the tools in this photo have not been resharpened yet but they are unifacial which identifies them as Edgefields).

This selection is from the Alvin Hendrix collection curated at the Silver River Museum in Ocala, Florida. The Hendrix collection includes over 16,000 artifacts most of which are lithics.
