The Endicott Reardon Family Museum would like to thank all those who contributed to our most successful 2025 season. Although our regular hours finished as of October 1st for now, please know that you can still visit the Museum by appointment, or by making arrangements for special tours, throughout the year. It is also possible to drop by in case the Museum should be open that day, all possibilities would be welcome!

We began our Special Events Programs with Pary Tell, local historian and lecturer who spoke about New Jersey Women and the Civil War, pictured here from a previous presentation about Women's Suffrage in New Jersey in 2024, with the Museum's President, Janice Myers; our last presentation was by Hal Taylor, local writer and graphic artist who spoke about the contextual history of songs, and his latest book, For a Song.

Other programs included local historian, Robert E. Heinly speaking about Cape May in WWI on September 9th; and Ed Runyon, author and collector, who spoke about his book, Milk Bottles of Cape May County on August 12th. Rita Rothberg, Cape May County Clerk, spoke about Researching Your Property's History on July 29th. Board members and collectors Maryetta Dorricott and Antoinette L. Braca presented a program about the Toys of the Museum on August 26th.

All of our speakers made use of informative and effective Power Point presentations to engage those in attendance. Scroll through the Museum's 2025 season postings for more information about these programs and more. Our thanks to all of our Special Events program speakers who highlighted our 2025 Season, and to all who attended and support our Special Events!

Delightful presentation on Toys of the Museum: Cultural Artifacts on August 26th at the Museum! Antoinette L. Braca and Maryetta Dorricott, Board Members and Collectors, presented a Power Point program of colorful toys held by the Museum that were also on Special Exhibit. Fun questions such as what is considered to be the oldest toy in the world (the spinning top!) and what toy most influenced the famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright ( blocks!) along with many other fun facts. The Golden Age of Toys, early to mid 20th century, owed a lot to lithography that made intricate and colorful designs possible on tin plates that were then fashioned into tin-litho toys like banks, favored story book and Disney characters, music boxes, and complicated mechanical toys like trains and Ferris wheels. Beloved rag dolls such as Raggedy Ann and Andy were brought to life with stories about their origins and story books Our enthusiastic attendees made the program a pleasure to present and we thank everyone for coming out and joining us in acknowledging the wonderful world of toys, all authentic, from a bygone era, which remain in our hearts as treasured memories. Visit the Museum to see these and the many other fascinating items from days gone by!

We were fascinated by a very special Power Point presentation by Ed Runyon all about milk bottles, as he has been collecting them for some 30 years. He has written two books about milk bottles and other bottles as well. His research into the world of milk bottles is amazing, as he has traced the many dairies in South Jersey and the evolution of the milk bottles that they created to deliver their milk and identity over the years. Milk Bottles and Memories in Cape May, NJ is full of photographs that illustrated the dairy industry from the earlier mom and pop enterprise to the big corporations filtering in and buying them out. The bottles tell the story! Mr. RUnyon is Director of the Cape May County Parks & Museum as well as long time collector of milk bottles and other bottles as well and a repository of knowledge about them, which he shares very effectively. Thank you very much for bringing this subject, which has touched all of us in some way, to life with your presentation!

Wonderful first program of the season last week with Michael Conley, local historian, historic home researcher, and lecturer of Cape May Court House, N.J., well known for presenting interesting programs on a variety of historical topics.

His program discussed the primary research that
he has conducted about the Prohibition Era (1920-1933) and its related criminal court matters, particularly under the sitting judge at the time, Henry H. Eldridge, of Cape May County, when lots of underground illegal activities were happening, even in Cape May County!

Thank you Mr. Conley for a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era, and the portrait you presented of the sitting judge at the time, Henry H. Eldridge. Photos courtesy of Janice Myers, President, Endicott Reardon Family Museum.

Wait a minute! Who is that dapper Don, stepping right out of the Prohibition Era--pinstripes, cigar, watch chain, bowtie and all--surely a powerful presentation to channel the past into the present with this 'arresting' figure!!! Well done!
