is the new silver

just scrapped out a big pile of vtg as-is copper outdoor furniture i got on the cheap from a salvage yard at the IB / Coronado bay front.

was visiting a retired Navy SEAL buddy of mine I knew back in the 70s when I was an active duty USMC grunt.

apparently his grandpa was a metal salvage guy who got a ton of stuff back in the day from Navy surplus sales and scrap yards during the pre-through-post-WWII era.

my friend said his grandpa sold a bunch of copper tubing to some guy in Santa Barbara who made furniture? and the guy made him a 30 pc set of for his lanai.

there’s a bunch more that’s been layin’ around for decades but i only got what i could fit in my uhaul.

copper is $6+ a pound so i think i did well since there was about 300 lbs.

reminded me a little like or (before it was crushed by the scrapper) but 🤷🏽?

i’ll head back down to chulajuana in a few weeks to get some more, after i recover from

no look-a-like contemporary derivative objects that ride on the coattails of the hard working master artisans created several decades earlier.

it’s about cutting edge, innovation.

the value isn’t about money.

the value is about being from the mind, heart, eye, and hand of the design OG (original genius).

This multi impedance, super cartioid version was $85 when issued, 40% more than the base model was at $55.

Tag says Chicago which dates it between 1947 up to 1956, when Shure moved to Evanston.
