Another statue has been returned to public display.
If you’ve been following this site, you remember a couple of months Tim White found four Laura Pope Forrester’s statues he found in North Georgia. Rescued after an unfortunate demolition event in the early 1980s, some of these were unable to stand on their own and were unsafe for display.
Thanks to Cooper Concrete’ expertise, and innovation the second statue is again part of the museum. This sweet little girl statue is now upright and safe.

I ran across this blog from when we began this restoration project eight years ago. While it has nuggets of interesting facts about the museum, the heart of the post is to encourage you to envision greater things.

When I walked through the petite French doors of Pope’s Museum, it wasn’t the odor of three years being closed up and the ill treatment of animals that I sensed. Thank you Wendell Pipkin and Pipkin Woodworks for using your gifts to help restore this museum. The stand for the statue of Rebecca Felton is fantastic. 
It’s beautiful. It’s stable, and it perfectly exhibits this amazing piece created by Laura Pope Forrester to recognize the first woman United States Senator.

Pretty stoked and grateful!
So thankful for the article and Georgia magazine sharing about the program for women veterans at Pope’s Museum.
I shared last month that we are the recipient of the roundup campaign from Grady EMC.
It was great to see the article in the magazine in the mailbox!
Women Veterans: Stories of Strength, Service and Legacy
Will happen November 7.
And I’m already stoked that we have scheduled the second one on Saturday, January 23!

There’s a new painting on exhibit at the Roddenberry

We are so excited! There are fabulous things happening in Grady County.
Popes Museum is working on a collaboration with other local organizations to expand our community’s educational and economic opportunity, as well as build civic pride.
The arts and historic preservation go hand-in-hand with literacy and cultural opportunities.
Phase one is with Roddenbery Memorial Library and The Grady County History Museum.
Today we expanded the Laura Pope Forester exhibit at RML with one of her original paintings.
Special thanks to Dan Dean and Ben Dean for going the extra mile.
 More great things are coming!

Connections for Pope's Museum are growing across the nation! We were so thrilled to host Valerie Balient and Chris Morris from .hahs and National Trust and at the awards banquet. They were here to celebrate with us the success of our grant project honoring women in STEAM.

Using this site for education is a core part of our mission. Thank you .hahs
