Today, All Stranz and I met with owner of Stubborn Brothers Brewery (Shawano). They have agreed to produce a commemorative Oconto Eagle Beer. The label will be based on the 1930s Oconto Eagle label. Recipe is the same as their Shawano Club Beer which is a light pilsener. Available only in six packs of aluminum cans, the initial run will be about 416 six packs sold through select retail outlets beginning sometime in May. Additional production will depend on how well the first batch is received. There are no set up fees. Thirty percent of the profits will go to the Oconto County Historical Society. With Oconto Eagle Beer, the OCHS helps celebrate the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the modern day settlement of Oconto County and 250th birthday of the USA. More details will be forthcoming.

Among the vehicles on display at the Beyer Home & Carriage Museum in Oconto, Wisconsin, are two of the total four electric powered autos originally owned by lumber baron W.A. Holt for his wife Lucy to commute around the City of Oconto. This very rare 1911 Waverley and 1931 Detroit Electric were high end vehicles in their day and at a cost three times higher than the typical combustion engine car.
Remember to put the Beyer Home & Carriage Museum on your places to see this summer!
