Ocracoke Foundation

Ocracoke Foundation OFI is a resource, an incubator for sustainable ideas and facilitator of projects that embrace the assets of this wonderful island.

By looking at “the bigger picture” and responsibly managing and connecting resources, our community will be able to sustain itself. Each of OFI’s projects seeks to fold these resources together to improve the quality of life on Ocracoke. We want to help Ocracoke meet challenges by building on local assets — people, heritage, land and water — to create a sustainable community.

Clean up continues at the Community Square… even in this cold weather we're having. A crew has been getting the attics cleaned, uncovering decades of stuff. This photo shows the attic of the Community Store. You can see where the outside wall used to be. Before the storeroom and loading dock were added, this outside wall faced the harbor and beckoned boaters to the store.
