Amen. Amen. Rev. Reed was well-known in Oklahoma and beyond...all the way to the top in his services rendered, VIP travel lists, education circles and beyond. In a nutshell, he really was a Servant Leader. I knew him for more than 50 years. Many times, I found myself being invited to places that many just read about but never go there. Rev. Reed would show in some of these places, also, as a VIP guest. One such place was the Air Force Academy in Colorado. It was a place where one of the nation's Air Command Center is located. How very educational for all 20 or 30 of us who were invited by our Federal Government to tour and learn about how America fits into the world of space. Pastor Reed was always a big supporter of education, the community and the world. As I ran into the M. L. King postoffice this morning to pick up BLAC, Inc.'s mail, it hit me that I would not see the smiling face of Rev. Reed recalling and sharing tidbits of things going on to make our community and world a better place. He will be missed!
Oklahoma City icon and civil rights leader Rev. Dr. John A. Reed, Jr. has taken his well-deserved place in the ancestral plane. We can never thank you enough for the near century of labor you have put forth for our people.
Rest in Power Pop Reed.
