On travels home from the ANA convention, several friends of the Museum stopped in for a visit. Justin Perrault of the Milwaukee Coin Club, Minnesota collectors Pete Smith, Shawn Hewitt, and board member Mark Anderson.

On Thursday evening August 28, the Higgins Museum will be hosting "Night at the Museum" from 5 to 7 PM.

Come over to 1507 Sanborn Avenue to see the largest collection of US National Bank Notes on display in the country, with a special emphasis of those issued by local banks in the states of Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.

In addition an intaglio printing press, a bank teller's window, safes of various styles, change machines, counters and paymaster check writers are on display.

Light refreshments will be available.

If you are familiar on how to navigate the Stacksbowers.com auction webpage, from the home page, click on auctions, then catalog library, and then the August 27th Rarities night sale It has some interesting news on page vii of the introduction.

A consignor, using the name of the Seven Lions is selling US patterns (29 lots in the August 27 Sale and 81 lots in the August 30th sale) for the benefit of the Higgins Museum.

A generous gift indeed, the funds of which are to be used for a expansion to the museum, to house a large gift of National Bank Notes. Thus an even more generous gift.

It seems that the Higgins Museum has landed on a Iowa County Museum tour quest, so we are getting some digital visitors.

We also hosted a small geo-cache group during RAGBRAI.

National collector and SPMC member Joe Ridder and his wife Linda stopped in for a visit to the museum this week. Always nice to have conversations with a ong-time friend. We first got to know each other while on the 1980s committee for the old Metropolitian NY Numismatic Conventions.
