Show Statement:

An exhibition by Thomas A. O’Grady and Tsugumi Wada of mixed-media works created using paper materials collected from the streets of Manchester, England and the East Village, New York City. The acts and decisions involved what to select or discard, what to cut out or leave behind-reflect the daily behaviors of those of us living in a world of information overload
The materials gathered from the streets express the difficulty of navigating the overwhelming flood/influx of information. Meanwhile, the abstract paintings convey the preciousness and transience of our finite time.
These works invite reflection on whether one spends life actively or passively.

Printed Memoria: Prints and Sculptures
Curated by David Manzanares

Petshop Gallery
2727 N. 62nd St.
August 7th 6-10 PM

Printed Memoria brings together prints by Oria Simonini, Víctor López, Heczar Gómez, Mari Mariel, and David Manzanares, alongside sculptures by Manzanares. The artists share more than an exhibition: they are the people with whom Manzanares first began painting murals many years ago. Although their artistic practices have followed different paths, they remain connected through friendship, collaboration, and a shared creative history. Bringing their prints into dialogue with sculpture, Printed Memoria explores how images and relationships carry memories across time, place, migration, and belonging.

Satisfaction Not Guaranteed // Woks by Nathan Gurnon
📅 Opening Reception: First Friday February 6
🕕 6–10 PM 📍 Petshop — 2725 N. 62nd St.

Satisfaction Not Guaranteed is built around a simple idea: art doesn’t come with a promise. Phrases like “the customer is always right” or “satisfaction guaranteed” don’t really apply when it comes to making work that’s personal, imperfect, and subjective.

Nathan Gurnon makes within the skill boundaries he’s currently working in. Where technique may fall short, creativity takes over. If the work connects with you, that’s appreciated. If it doesn’t, that’s understood. This work isn’t meant for everyone—it’s for the people who do find something in it.

The pieces are created from repurposed materials, including street signs and canvases painted over again and again. Each surface carries its own history. Expect rough edges, visible layers, and work that values honesty over polish, made in the only way the artist knows how to express it.
