This high school auditorium, built in 1939 with Works Progress Administration funding is executed in cast-in-place concrete. The Art Modern-style building was designed by Robert Stanton and sculpture work by artist Joseph Jacinto Mora. Mora, born on October 22, 1876 in Montevideo, Uruguay was from a family of artists. In 1880, the Mora family moved to New York City and eventually made their way to California. By 1921, the Mora family moved their primary residence to the largest art colony on the West Coast, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Between 1908 and the late 1940s Jo Mora's sculptures, illustrations, watercolors and etchings were frequently exhibited across the United States. The King City Joint Union High School Auditorium was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 23, 1991.
