We’ve got some great news to share…

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, our plumbing repair fundraiser is fully funded!

We are truly grateful to everyone who gave and especially to those who gave twice. Your generosity made this possible.

Work is scheduled (weather permitting) to begin this week:

DPU will start on Wednesday

WeCo Rooter Plumbing will follow on Thursday

If all goes as planned (fingers crossed 🤞), we’re excited to welcome you back when we reopen on Wed, May 13th at 10am

Thank you again for helping us move from a historic problem to a hopeful reopening. We can’t wait to see you soon!

We've been closed for nearly a month and had to cancel one scheduled event due to this issue.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and a significant in-kind contribution from WeCo Rooter Plumbing, our total repair cost has been reduced to $8,185.65. So far, $7,025 has been raised.

That leaves just $1,160.65 needed to complete the repairs.

This is the final stretch, and every contribution directly moves us toward reopening.

Dear Friends,

We want to share an important update about the Orangeburg County Historical Society.

We are currently dealing with a major plumbing failure that has forced us to close to the public. The original terracotta pipes, installed when the building was constructed in 1965, have been damaged over time by tree roots. These roots have grown inside the pipes for years and have now completely blocked a section of the line.

To repair this, a portion of the pipe outside the building must be dug up and replaced. This will involve work in the parking lot and potentially the surrounding area.

The estimated cost for these repairs is approximately $15,000.

As a volunteer-run organization with no funding from city, county, or state sources, unexpected repairs like this place a significant strain on our resources.

We are asking for your help.

If you are able, please consider making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us complete these repairs and reopen to continue preserving and sharing Orangeburg County’s history.
