Harness racing, early 1940s at the Ogle County Fairgrounds. This race probably required a judge's call because only the camera angle makes it appear who the winner is. These were the days before instant replays and many a heated discussion took place with a nose-to-nose finish.
The Ogle County Fair Association organized in 1853. The first fairs were held on the courthouse lawn and along the west banks of the Rock River until property was purchased north of Oregon.
In 1992, the fairgrounds property, owned by private investors, was sold. The new fairgrounds, since 1992 is located west of Oregon on Lime Kiln Road.
