A LOOK BACK - FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY: SNAP! ORLANDO | CREATIVE PLACEMAKERS DOCUMENTARY

A beautiful memory from 2020 of the release of our short film documentary, Snap! Orlando | Creative Placemakers. We are forever grateful to this community and beyond as we reflect on the past 15 years. Patrick, your impact and legacy of love, your commitment and passion to the arts continues to inspire us. Your memory lives on. ♥️

Thank you all for the continuous love extended to our family. We are forever grateful. ♥️

We wanted to share details about Patrick’s celebration of life service. It will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Rollins College Knowles Memorial Chapel, with a reception following from 12-2 p.m. in the Rice Family Pavilion. All are welcome to attend.

Our sincere appreciation to Jeff Matz for creating this beautiful graphic. Also thank you to Eric Sutton for taking this photograph of Patrick years ago when we started Snap! Orlando.

A Statement from Holly Kahn:

With deep sadness, we share that Patrick passed peacefully last night, surrounded with family and so much love. Patrick’s luminous spirit is now soaring — his courage and determination throughout this journey with cancer has been an example of grace and love. There is a beauty in the quiet strength he possessed. I am so proud of his courage, his ability to find peace in every moment of many difficult days, and years. You’d never know by his outward gentleness and positivity the challenges he endured. He was an extraordinary man, husband, father, son, brother, and friend, full of life and love. His immeasurable talent and influence will live on forever.

We know we’re not alone in our heartache. The outpouring of love and prayers we have felt and the way he was carried through this journey is what carries me now. I have so much more to say, to share. We’ll send news about Patrick’s celebration of life in the time ahead. We are taking time as a family, gaining our strength to share memories with you.

Patrick, you were and always will be the light in any room you fill. You chose to live this life in all its preciousness, always creating, always exploring, effortlessly cool, always one step ahead of the curve. Being your life’s partner has been the greatest gift. You lived every day to the fullest with your larger than life, genuine energy to be in the moment, soaking up all the magic this world has to offer. I will live that forward, our Juliette and Luke too. Still, our hearts are completely broken without you — our whole universe has shifted. We carry your heart in ours. Your bright light and generous spirit has made a difference in so many lives. I cherish every day, every moment, that I had with you. I love you forever, my beautiful Patrick. ♥️

SNAP! ORLANDO 2013 : KERRY SKARBAKKA, AND MORE

"Falling photos force us to face our fundamental fears ... Kerry Skarbakka wants to capture the feeling you get when you’re about to eat it — wrecking your bike, tripping down the stairs, falling off a ladder — and you know it. The ground comes flying up and for a split second you’re resigned to letting events take their course. To do that, he voluntarily throws himself off of things and takes a photo in midair ... “If we can give up that control, worry a little less about that existential anxiety, what would that do for us?” he says. - Source: Wired

In May 2013, we brought and exhibited the works of 25 international artists in a 15, 000 sq. ft pop-up gallery warehouse. 'MOTION TO LIGHT' was a larger than life display of photographs and installations, with an emphasis on the light painting medium.
Headliners included international artists such as Kerry Skarbakka, Vicki DaSilva, Jill Greenberg, Mei Xian Qiu, Szymon Brodziak w/ Nicholas Hardy, Nicolas Senegas, Jeff Frost, Olivier Valsecchi, Jim Kazanjian, Christy Lee Rogers, Aurora Crowley, among others…

BACK IN 2014: MARK GMEHLING’S ICONIC MURAL

We love revisiting and reliving past events which shaped what Snap! Is about. We connected with the amazingly talented and uber cool German street artist Mark Gmehling online and invited him to create his first mural in the USA, along with a gallery exhibition. It was instant love and long lasting relations ensued. ❤️

Today, the actual mural was sadly decommissioned due to severe water damage on the wall, but the experience still exists through our AR app City Unseen. Enjoy it 24/7.
