We now have three new ISAMU NOGUCHI: METAL THE MIRROR themed Sensory Bags available for families to check out at the People's Welcome Desk, helping those with little ones and neurodivergent minds to explore the exhibitions in new and exciting ways. With five items, make profound and long-lasting connections to the artwork through relaxed, hands-on play and engaging observation.

MMAA's Sensory Bags include:
🌈 Organic and geometric building blocks, stack and shape your own structure!
🌈 A Drawing Tablet to sketch out your favorite work at the museum.
🌈 A cloud squishy! Close your eyes and imagine you're floating on a cloud.
🌈 A three panel mirror, see how many different reflections you can get using the building blocks!
🌈 A Koma, a traditional Japanese spinning top.

Sensory Bags are known to enable families to enjoy longer museum visits while experiencing a more welcoming and inclusive art-viewing environment.

Keep an eye out for a reel soon which showcases the Sensory Bag and Scavenger Hunt & Activity Booklet on the museum grounds!

Join us in celebration of Isamu Noguchi’s birthday, November 17, for a special screening of Isamu Noguchi: Stones and Paper, a timeless retrospective on his life and career!

Come early to mix and mingle, enjoy a lantern-decorating activity inspired by Noguchi’s artistic legacy, and check out our landmark exhibition, Isamu Noguchi: Metal the Mirror.

Craft and Conversation: 5:15 – 6 PM; Screening: 6 – 7 PM

FREE with advance registration. Seating is limited.

Synopsis: This program is a timeless retrospective on the life and career of Isamu Noguchi, whose binational heritage sent him back and forth between Japan and America seeking a new artistic synthesis. He started his career in Paris as Constantin Brancusi’s apprentice. He made his name in New York. And, after World War II, he brought a fresh modernist wind to Japan, putting his mark on Japanese ceramics, gardens, and paper lanterns. His late masterworks—rough stone monoliths that echo both Brancusi and the Zen garden of Ryoanji—marry East and West in an absolutely original way. We at the Mennello want to thank you all for a jam-packed weekend of creative fun!

This past Saturday we held our Ikebana Flower Arrangement Workshop with Irene Gomulka. Attendees learned about the essential Ikebana tools and the principles of line, balance, proportion, and the thoughtful placement of branches, flowers, and space.

This past Sunday our monthly Free Family Funday attendees learned about different origami techniques, watercolor practices, and all about Isamu Noguchi's work!

We invite you all to next month's FFF, taking place November 8th! Back by popular demand, paper lanterns!🏮 As well as a project inspired by the steel sculptural work of Isamu Noguchi. Think Rock🪨, Cloud☁️, and Mountain⛰️!

Join Mark DeMaio of Caravan Learning for a program that is perfect for the youngest of art lovers! We will have a great time exploring visual and musical arts in a percussive sing-along song and story time in the galleries of the Mennello Museum!

Something is fluttering by at the Mennello Museum! 🦋

With the weather getting cooler, come visit our patio and enjoy the brand new beautiful view of the lake our museum has to offer! With a wonderful breeze coming off of Lake Formosa, lots of local pollinator bugs come out to play throughout our Sculpture Garden.☂️🧺 Enjoy the shade provided by large oak trees and picnic table umbrellas.

Whether on a walk or planning to eat lunch, learn about the different farm workers and advocates who fought for better conditions and rights through Luca Molnar's 'Worker Bees' mural. 🐝

Located to the right of the museum as you enter, no ticket is necessary to enjoy our beautiful outdoor property!

Join us THIS SUNDAY for Free Family Funday!

Enjoy free museum admission to explore our Fall and Winter exhibition, join a free, hourly docent tour of the galleries, and take part in our free art project. This Free Family Funday, join guest artist Alexis Collum as we create Autumn-themed landscapes inspired by the Japanese tradition of Momijigari!

Momijigari translates to "autumn leaves viewing" in English. In Japan during mid October, many areas will host Momijigari festivals full of music, gentle appreciation, and traditional foods. Join us as we use, red, orange, and yellow origami paper to mimic the changing of the seasons around us! Tissue Paper lanterns will also be back by popular demand.
