New work by Jenna Blazevich currently on exhibit in the gallery at Redefine Orlando for her “See it through” collection with . This collection includes a variety of hand made pieces that combines stained glass supporting hand cranked, chain stitched embroidered textiles chained together to create a well balanced connection of aesthetic, color, contrasting materials, and meaningful context. The show runs until the 2nd weekend of August. So don’t delay, go see these beautiful pieces in person.

July 17 “See It Through” with &
Last year I turned 40. It was the year I discovered I have chronic anxiety. Uncovering the depth and frequency of my rumination led me down a path of mental self-evaluation. In an effort to calm the daily buzzing of anxiety and fear, I channeled nervous energy into a goal of creating a style of original art that felt unique to me, and also fresh. I began daily creative meditations in the form of original graphic icons (logos, essentially), with imagery masked the within the icon’s shape. My contributions to See It Through are pop art influenced explorations of graphic shape, color, and dimension, using personal and shared archetypes depicted as “windows.” I want the viewer to see the art, deconstructed, replicating methods reminiscent of printmaking through the layering of isolated colors/ shapes. The shadowbox style shrines focus on themes of anxiety, war, aging, and facing (un)certain dread. Bright colors, minimal patterns, and soft shapes are meant to add an innocent gloss over terrifying realities, making them safer and more palatable.

Local tattoo artist and painter Canada shares her self-described “bright & obnoxious” insights into her weird and wonderful world through her new collection of works titled “Insomniac”
