Good afternoon all, we are having an online only lottery for a beautiful print of the Robert Havell painting that hangs in our museum. Titled "Hudson River, North to Croton Point" it is one of the most admired paintings we have.

Printed by Mark Sarazen of Sarazen Editions (Thanks Mark Sarazen!) it measures 27" long x 21" high (including the white border) and is ready for framing. Visit our website for purchasing a ticket:

Robert Havell (1793-1878) lived in Ossining and was a well known painter and engraver - noted especially for his engravings of Audubon's "Birds of America". In 1941 Elizabeth Redway donated the painting to the Ossining Historical Society where it has remained to this day.

Two views of the smallpox house in Ossining, from the Museum's Slater collection of glass plate negatives. Sufferers of the disease were quarantined in this rough dwelling, which stood on the south end of Spring St. near the hospital.
