👻 Get creative with some spooky science!

This week in Owls Nest, little artists can draw with markers on tin foil, spray their artwork with water, and transfer their creations onto Halloween-themed shapes.

It’s a colorful, creative way for young learners to explore how water interacts with art materials while practicing creativity and fine motor skills.

Halloween fun, creativity, and discovery filled OHTM during Night at the Museum! 🎃

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to explore activities, get creative, and celebrate Halloween at the museum. It was wonderful to see families enjoying opportunities to learn, discover, and make memories together.

The Science & Industry Center is all about encouraging curiosity through exploration, creativity, and STEM learning. Events like this are a great way to bring that spirit to the whole family!

The Halloween magic continued along the Owls Head Pumpkin Walk, where visitors enjoyed a glowing trail of nearly 150 jack-o’-lanterns surrounded by beautiful autumn scenery. A big thank you to the Owls Head Conservation Commission and Georges River Land Trust for bringing this beloved fall tradition to life!

Thank you for being part of the fun. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Science & Industry Center for more opportunities to create, experiment, and discover.

Halloween is almost here, and the Science & Industry Center is celebrating with spooky art, bubbling potions, and creative STEM activities for young learners and families!

Wednesday, October 28
Owls Nest: Spooky Art | ages 2-4
10:30-11:30 AM

Make Halloween-themed artwork using markers, foil, and water. Draw on foil, spray with water, and transfer your colorful designs onto spooky shapes. This come-and-go program welcomes families anytime between 10:30 and 11:30 AM.

Junior Inventors: Witch’s Brew | grades K-8 & families
4:30-6:30 PM

Get creative with science! Make magical potions using baking soda and vinegar, then enjoy fun Halloween crafts. Costumes are welcome!

Friday, October 30
Owls Nest: Spooky Art | ages 2-4
10:30-11:30 AM

Join the spooky art fun again with creative experiments and Halloween-inspired designs.

All programs take place at the Science & Industry Center at OHTM and are included with museum admission or membership.

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 24 | 5:00-7:00 PM
Come in costume and step into living history! See costumes portraying race car drivers, pilots, inventors, movie stars, and more. Explore interactive activities throughout the museum and enjoy plenty of candy along the way.

Wander a candlelit trail featuring nearly 150 glowing jack-o’-lanterns at this beloved community tradition.

❤️ GIVE BACK WHILE YOU CELEBRATE
Bring a new or gently used coat to Night at the Museum to support Harvesting Hope, a Penobscot Bay YMCA community effort helping neighbors in Knox County prepare for the colder months.

Make a night of it! Visit the museum, then enjoy the Pumpkin Walk, or explore the trail before heading inside. Both events are FREE!

🏠 What would you build if you had to design a home for a tiny critter or fairy?

This week at Junior Inventors, young engineers will sketch a design, choose from provided materials, and build a miniature house. Then comes the real test: how durable is the design?

This creative engineering challenge gives Junior Inventors a chance to practice planning, building, testing, and problem-solving while putting their imaginations to work.

• Time: Drop in anytime between 4:30-6:30 PM
• Ages: Open to K-8 students and families
• Cost: Free with museum admission or membership
• Location: Science & Industry Center, open until 7 PM for Junior Inventors families

Owls Nest: Magic Milk | 10:30-11:30 AM
Ages 2-4

Explore density using milk, oil, and dish soap, then investigate a lava lamp-inspired sensory bin. Owls Nest is a come-and-go program, so families can arrive anytime between 10:30 and 11:30 AM.

Junior Inventors: House Building | 4:30-6:30 PM
Grades K-8 & families

Put your engineering skills to work! Sketch a design, choose your materials, and build a home for a critter or fairy during this after-school STEM program.
