Founding Maryland family member Mrs. Tissier Moaney got her wings this morning at 5:53 am. After a peaceful farewell with family at her side, she entered the pearly gates and now leads the choir in Heaven. We at The Water’s Edge salute her life and her legacy.

Intern Spotlight: My name is Kiara Brummell and I am currently an intern here at the Water’s Edge Museum. Two of my greatest passions in life have consistently revolved around the arts and history, especially history that ties closely with my heritage. When I was introduced to this opportunity, I was elated by the thought of getting the chance to teach others about the rich black history and culture in Oxford and Bellevue. Bellevue, the place that I call my second home, while simultaneously learning more about my heritage. I am very fortunate to have been accepted to become an intern here at the Museum, because not only do I get to learn more about my heritage, as well as culture and environmental justices, but I also get to spread the word to others who may not be as knowledgable about the subject. This internship has also blessed me with the opportunity to work closely with individuals who work in my planned major, Interior Design which will ultimately prepare me for when I begin taking classes at Anne Arundel Community College. My plan is to spend my sophomore year at Anne Arundel college, and then transfer to a four-year to earn my bachelor’s degree in Interior Design.
