The Reily Township Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Reily Twp. Community Center, 6093 Reily–Millville Road, Oxford, Ohio 45056.
Mr. Cameron Shriver, Senior Research Associate, Myaamia Center, Miami University, will present; “The Northwest Indian Wars, 1785-1814.”
Mr. Shriver will discuss the importance of this region to American history immediately following the American Revolution. Why was this area, known as the Northwest Territory, or the Territory Northwest of the Ohio River, that later became the state of Ohio and Butler County, so filled with violence in the 1780’s and early 1790’s? And what were the stakes for all the individuals involved; the locals, legislators, soldiers, native Americans and the pioneers heading west.
Members and non-members are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served. The business meeting starts at 7 p.m. and the program begins at approximately 7:15 p.m.

At the last meeting of The Reily Township Historical Society on Tuesday, April 7, We had our Show and Tell. This is always one of our favorite meetings, and it’s a great chance to see the stories and history our community holds. We had lots of interesting items. Dan Finfrock, always comes through with some Railroad history. He brought an old ticket printer complete with a one of a kind ticket reproduced for each of us to keep, this ticket was from 1936. He also had an antique cash or valuable metal box with Cincinnati Richmond RR company printed on it. We had atlases and maps from the 1800s of Butler County and Reily, Ohio. Reily Historical Society President, Danielle Foulk brought an antique oak rocker that was in the old Wehr farmhouse that she now owns. Originally owned and well loved by Margaret Fox Wehr it was brought back home by a Wehr family member. We also had three old Domestic sewing machine attachments brought in by a member owned by her Great Grandmother. A 1976 Winners ribbon for a parade float with a theme of the first one room school house in Reily. There were multiple cast iron paper weights and bottle openers that were typically given to clients and customers of the Hamilton Foundry, one in particular was marked OOGH, that member Dan Spencer researched and it stands for Oriental Order of the Groundhogs! Never found out much about it and only knows of one other with those markings. There were 31 foundries in Hamilton, Ohio at one time, now none.
