This week’s collection item was a fossilized piece of Mastodon (Mammut americanum) tusk, congratulations to Bobby Bossenecker on coming the closest! Despite bearing many of the features we now associate with modern elephants, mastodons predated their closer relatives, mammoths, by around 20 million years! Great guesses everyone, try again next week!
