Happy Valentine's Day
Fiona Betsy MacGaggle is showing her love today.
Going through the treasure trove of Carolyn's past art, I found these drawings from the late 60s or early 70s. One is a preliminary drawing for a newspaper ad. Carolyn and Wil owned Sudbury Craftsman gift shop during that time.
Oh yeah, 20% off Vintage Jewelry through Monday

We are healthier and have reopened.
Here are some pictures from the Luminaria Saturday night. I came up with the concept of printed luminaries at a cancer walk in 2001 after my mother died. The luminaries at the walk were left blank or had a name written on them. I rushed home and printed a picture of my mother. I taped it on a luminary. Over the years, as I got new printers, I tried to print on the white bags with little success. They jammed or flipped and flopped in the printer getting ink all over them. This year I realized that, with a medium format printer, I could print on 11x17 paper and fold it into a bag. I designed the fold lines and where to place the image. Then came the Vision. Printed luminaries at our historic sites, a couple of them at the doorstep of each of our active businesses. Individual homeowners brightening up their walks with personalized luminaries. A row of Texaco stars at the Texaco with an array of art images from our local artists surrounding the area. Weeks of planning and design, interrupted by illness, hours of printing, cutting and folding. I was able to provide 11 for the Texaco, 3 for the Cow House, 2 for Etcetera, and 2 for the Dim Light. I printed several with MacKay paintings for our building, some for Paducah Porch Goose, a couple for Mike and Katherine at 501 6th, and, when the ones for the Cow House didn't make it by evening, I reprinted them. It appears that my vision was unclear, for when Carolyn and I took a walk about 8pm, I found the printed luminaries scattered randomly on 7th Street. Good intentions gone for naught. Now everyone knows the vision and maybe next year.

Twas a week before Christmas and at Stornoway House. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The art is still there, waiting down stairs, for customers that can't get there. Carolyn and I are laying in bed. with visions of wellness running through our heads.
We got Covid for Christmas.
Carolyn is recovering, I'm a few days later
We are closed till this passes. It is very difficult to miss this week of sales, but health is more important.

It's Saturday
I've spent the day shooting and scripting this so it's posted late.
I've tried to make this as much like a actual tour of the gallery as possible. Yes it's long, but it takes time to explore the gallery.
For younger generations, "Would you like to see my etchings" was a line in the 70s.
The wings are sculptural weaving. They are available in 12" and 15" (measured from shoulder to wingtip). The 12" are $50 and the 15" are $60. they're woven from one strand of steel clothesline wire. Shipping and handling is $20 for up to 3 sets. Please see our previous posts for more examples of how strong and posable the wings are.
This is the end of the story for now, I have spent a week moving and posing these gooses and my back is just about gone.

The chase is on. Fiona gets airborne and Count Gauguinder follows around the gallery past the MacKay Museum's collection of paintings (subtitles would say: lively bagpipe music, wings flapping). With no way out Count Gauguinder has cornered Fiona at the back of the gallery........To Be Continued

When we left off, Fiona Betsy MacGaggle had wandered into the only open shelter she could find. She wonders why this is the only place open after dark. She soon forgets this and becomes fascinated with the incredible variety of art she finds. She wanders the gallery intrigued by what she sees. Then something moves in the shadows.... Time to pick up on the story I started a little bit ago.
It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly a shot rang out. A woman screamed..... Ooooopps, wrong story, sorry Snoopy.
The drums sounded over the savanna, the natives are restless tonight...darn!
I was working late in my office when this gorgeous dame slithered through the door....nope.
okay
The night was quiet and still, the village dark. Count Paul Gauguinder was restlessly roaming Stornoway House Gallery and MacKay Museum. A young maiden has found the doors of the village locked with no one willing to answer. She goes to the only light she sees. It is a small art gallery and museum in LowerTown Paducah, Kentucky. Count Gauguinder is looking at the jewelry boxes when he hears a noise at the door..........To be continued......
