Amazingly Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, The Raven, still resonates and provides inspiration well over a century after its writing. PAPA artist Danna Gardner provided the supernatural atmosphere that immediately calls to mind her chosen title, “Never More.” Her colorful moon, deep shadows and luminous fence wire set the mysterious stage. But we quickly take it all in and turn our focus to the raven. You may wonder if it just spoke or you might pause an impossible moment to see if the words are yet to come.

This painting earns its place on the special People’s Choice wall this month and we hope you’ll come by to see it in person. We also have fresh art works to savor in our summer exhibit. Next time you’re in downtown Paducah, remember we love to simply enjoy art with you!

At PAPA's monthly meeting this week, Tuesday, we welcomed a few new members to our group, celebrated the art that sold this month, shared the challenge submissions for June's Challenge, "Bicycle" and enjoyed a presentation by Randy Simmons on Survival Skills (for the artist). Randy was swamped with a multitude of questions at the end of the program. We finished up with visiting and yummy snacks.

They say there's a season for everything and we've entered Hummingbird season outside as well as in the gallery! This striking bird painted by PAPA artist Pamela Crouch was suspended in time just as it was about to have a tasty treat. Her use of rich greens and violets seem to emphasize the richness of the nectar waiting inside the luscious blooms. You can almost imagine a sideways glance from its eye telling us to move on so it can imbibe!

'Fuchsia Snack' by Pamela S Crouch is only one of the new paintings in our summer show just waiting for you to come enjoy. When you find yourself downtown Paducah, we hope you'll drop by to spend a little time enjoying art with us!

Tuesday Feature: Neurographic Art. This is something pretty much anyone can have fun with. You start by drawing three lines on your paper, usually with ink, with as many twists and turns and curls as you want, crossing the lines. Go back in and every place where lines cross you round the connection. You can make some lines thicker and can vary the thickness you add to the joints, the size of the curve. You can look for or add other shapes if you start getting bored. And you can add color with ink pens, markers, colored pencil or watercolor. NOTE: several of these are stretching the definition of Neurographic Art if you ask my opinion, which I can offer since they're mine. But it's a jumping off point. Neurographic Art. It's total Play. You can do whatever you want and take the technique where YOU want to go. Try it.

Linda has been with PAPA for a few years now and we’ve been able to watch her grow as an artist. Linda is originally from central Tennessee but has spent most of her life in this area. Like many artists, she has had no ‘formal’ training, but has spent most of her life with a brush in her hand,
