Families showed up to Magical Bridge Playground for interactive storytelling about Palo Alto's role in the invention of film with President and CEO Marguerite Gong Hancock. Marguerite shared the story of how Leland Stanford, photographer Eadward Muybridge, and the horse Sallie Gardner sparked motion pictures. This sneak peek of our inaugural exhibition and film screening "From Hooves to Hollywood: Palo Alto's Role in Movie Breakthroughs and Blockbusters." A special thank-you to our partner and friends Magical Bridge for a magical time.

This month we’re thrilled to connect with kids throughout the community. After the 102nd May Fête parade, kids visited our booth behind the Museum at Heritage Park! Look at their colorful postcards addressed to “Dear future Palo Alto,” an activity inspired by our Palo Alto 2044 initiative that invites artists and writers of all ages to imagine Palo Alto at 150 years old: https://paloaltomuseum.org/palo-alto-2044/

Our exhibition planning took a giant step forward thanks to one very important truck! Milwaukee-based design studio Current Projects recently delivered 26 display cases custom built to showcase artifacts. The thoughtfully designed portfolio of bases and vitrines will allow flexible configurations for years to come.

The cases reflect careful attention to both visitor experience and collections care: heights consistent with Smithsonian ADA guidelines, linen-wrapped interior decks, integrated silica gel compartments for humidity control, and gasket seals for environmental stability.

For now, the cases are stored safely in our Education space—but they’ll make their way into Museum’s galleries when the building is ready!
