Families showed up to Magical Bridge Playground for interactive storytelling about Palo Alto's role in the invention of film with President and CEO Marguerite Gong Hancock. Marguerite shared the story of how Leland Stanford, photographer Eadward Muybridge, and the horse Sallie Gardner sparked motion pictures. This sneak peek of our inaugural exhibition and film screening "From Hooves to Hollywood: Palo Alto's Role in Movie Breakthroughs and Blockbusters." More than eighty Museum friends came out to the Palo Alto Art Center for a night of storytelling with Wyn Wachhorst on April 21, 2026. He shared tales of notable Palo Altans, including a spotlight on local musicians the Kingston Trio, the Grateful Dead, and Joan Baez. People lined up to get signed copies of his book, A Town Like No Other: Palo Alto Stories.
