The Shakespeare Club in Chrisman is featured in a new exhibit at the museum. Founded in February 1893, it is the oldest club in Edgar County and continues to meet regularly.

If you watched Saturday morning TV in the early to mid 1960s, you may remember the show "Sky King." Actor Kirby Grant played Sky King. Did you know his wife is buried in Edgar County's Payne Cemetery?

A more recent bit of Paris history is this ad from our local Kmart in the July 20, 1976 Beacon. The store opened in April 1976.

While filing some historical articles, we saw a July 20, 1976 Beacon article that included this 1892 sketch of the county poor farm. It was located northeast of Paris until after World War 2 and demolished in the 1960s.

Edgar County Historical Society has a unique opportunity to acquire several vintage pieces of agricultural equipment. Since our current museum space is at capacity, a 30' x 88' addition is planned. The foundation was recently laid. Fundraising is underway to help defray construction costs. Follow our page or contact the Historical Society for more information.
