March 18, 1897 6 o’clock a.m.
E.E. Chamberlain – cigar factory in Franklin C. Rice building
Cause: presumed from either overturned lamp or from stove
Insurance received as follows:
E.E. Chamberlain stock $328.80;
Franklin C. Rice building $37.60
April 2, 1897 1 o’clock p.m.
Thomas Corwin Myers planning mill
Cause: from smokestack
No damage.
September 4, 1897 6 o’clock a.m.
Petrie Estate – Barn
Cause: Person smoking
Loss $200.00
No Insurance
February 2, 1898 9:40 a.m.
Kerlin House – in western part of town
Loss about $100.00.
No Insurance
Cause: from defective stove pipe
Outside of water limit
February 13, 1898 2:30 p.m.
Benham building occupied as a harness shop by Gustave O. Dahms
Cause: spark from chimney
$5.00 damage to shingles.
No water thrown from hose.
May 4, 1898 4:20 p.m.
Can of tar at Towne’s
Residence scorched building trifle.
No damage
May 26, 1898 1:30 a.m.
Barn – owned by Robert Dunn
Loss: Pony and household goods
$100.00.
No Insurance
Cause: Tramp smoking in hay loft
June 6, 1898 7:20 p.m.
Via Building Main Street
Chimney burned out.
No damage
July 26, 1898 6:15 p.m.
Barn – Frank Blakesley owner
Loss about $75.00.
No Insurance
Cause: supposed incendiary
Outside of water limit
January 14, 1899 3:00 p.m.
Hotel Building owned by August Johnson and occupied by A.F. Leibnitz
Cause: Bedding near stovepipe catching fire.
Loss about $150.00 No Insurance.
