For folks that want to know what the event schedule looks like for 2026:
On Thursday and Friday, students arrive around 9AM. Around 9:30AM school groups will be heading for their first educational station. All school groups will visit all of the key stations. By 2PM students are usually gone. The people at the educational stations will likely disperse, getting ready for the next day. The Lewis and Clark group will most likely have several people in camp until around 5PM. This schedule should work the same way for Friday. On Saturday the remaining educational stations will open up around 9AM and tear down after 5PM. Not all of the stations will still be there on Saturday. The Lewis and Clark group (Pacific Northwest Living Historians) will be there. Saturday is free admission to the park because it is National Public Lands Day and no Discover Pass in needed.

There will be no food vendors at the event. Students are bringing their own lunches.

I was talking to the park ranger that is in charge of organizing Heritage Days 2026. She said that there is a good chance that if a public school teacher wants to bring their students and the school district says they won't/can't pay for transportation, I have been told that the park might be able to get a grant to help pay for transportation. This hasn't happened yet but closer to the event, it might be a good idea to check with Mary Keffer at Sacajawea State Park about that possibility. The dates are still September 24 and 25 for school days and September 26 as a free park day.

The page for the Heritage Days at Sacajawea State Park will no longer be managed by the Friends of Sacajawea State Park (FOSSP) group because FOSSP is being dissolved due to a lack of volunteers, the page will be closed.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission plans to host the Heritage Days event in the future and will likely use their own social media apps and accounts.

As far as I know, Heritage Days 2025 will be September 25-27, 2025. Unless things need to change, there will be two school days on Thursday and Friday.
