Estrella Warbird Museum

Estrella Warbird Museum Estrella Warbirds Museum is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of military aircraft, vehicles and memorabilia of those worked with them.

"We are dedicated to the restoration and preservation of military aircraft military vehicles and memorabilia to those who flew and worked on military aircraft. Our approach, however, is not to glorify conflict but rather to make a future generation aware of the fact our way of life does not come without sacrifice." From jeeps, side arms, early year aircraft, fighter jets recently retired from acti

ve duty, to antique ambulances, bombardier sites to modern missiles, from one of the earliest pilot's licenses issued by the FAA to unique personal items carried into combat during the previous century, from artifacts of airplanes which made aviation history, to piles of parts destined to end up as pieces of a fully restored vintage aircraft, you will find a unique collection of aircraft and artifacts. Preserving the equipment and the memories of those who came before us while preserving a bit of history, we have dedicated the museum to the men and women who are serving, whom have served, and, or sacrificed their life while in the military. On July 19th, 2009, The Estrella WarBirds Museum added a new facility, The Woodland Automobile Display Building, which preserves yet another chapter of history, automobile racing. Those involved with the Estrella Warbirds Museum have banded together with a common goal of honoring the past, while inspiring the current and future generations. We do not, in any way, want to stray from our previously stated primary mission dedicated to the restoration and preservation of military aircraft, vehicles and memorabilia of those who flew or worked on them. This work will continue, full steam ahead as we add additional aircraft and related memorabilia. When our men and women come home from military service, most no longer have access to those wonderfully fast screaming, flying machines. Many found those interests fulfilled through the building, modifying or racing of automobiles. Now, we can add another chapter of preserved history by complimenting those interests (and opening the doors to a younger generation). This is our gift to Paso Robles and the outlying communities. The Woodland Auto Display is filled with classic automobiles, historical racing cars, and unique artifacts from the world of automobile history and racing.

A big shout out to Johnboy's Toying for assisting us in moving some of our vehicles to the Best of the West tractor show in Santa Margarita! They helped get one of our WC 52's, our HUMVEE and Willys Jeep down there to participate and be on display.
We asked if they wanted to keep Keith Dekker (seen with the red hat on) but they politely declined.....
We will try again next time!

Losing another icon of NASCAR motorsports is.... well, it's hard! Yesterday, May/5/21/26, Kyle Busch passed away at the age of just 41! He was still an active driver for Richard Childress Racing driving the #8 Chevrolet. Before that, he had driven the #18 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing (winning 2 NASCAR Cup Championships) and started at the Cup level with Rick Hendrick Motorsports driving the #5 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. During that time, he had started his own racing company (Kyle Busch Motorsports).
Kyle Busch had won 232 NASCAR trips to victory lane at from all cup levels (63 Cup wins, 102 Busch/Xfinity/ O'reily series wins, and 67 Craftsman truck series wins) which is an astonishing feat!
Kyle Busch was a true force of nature. Known by "Rowdy" for his dynamic personality and "Shrub" for those who really knew him, when it came to having an unfiltered opinion on something, well anything, you could count on Kyle Busch for a no-holds barred assessment of the topic he was talking about. In a way, he would say what we all felt but were too shy to say it. Maybe that's why we all had feelings about him! Love him or hate him... he was a personality that shed light on racing. Whether it be competition, crew chiefs, sponsors or even other drivers- if you got in his way, beware the coming storm!
In recent years, he had tamed down some of the rhetoric.. having a family and raising children has a way of doing that. Despite it all, Kyle Busch was at his essence, a true competitor that gave always over 100% and put raw emotion into what he did best- captivating us as his audience and driving the living hell out of whatever vehicle he ever stepped into!
Kyle Busch (1985-2026)- Thanks For The Memories!

Lon Allan was a long-time member of the museum and a very accomplished wood worker. So much so that he created several of the display ships we have for the public to view in the museum! Lon's love was to make wood ship models ranging across the decades from WWI to the current era. We are so lucky to have a few of his treasured ships here for our guest to learn from and enjoy!
Lon recently passed away but his impact will be felt for a long time!
Lon had many occupations in his lifetime- US Navy sailor, educator, journalist, philanthropist, and most important- amazing husband and father!
His Celebration of Life happened on Sunday, 5/13/26 and we are so proud to have had some of our staff attend to pay honor to Lon.
We salute this young man! "May the tide carry you safely home, no matter how far you roam".

If you were not at Estrella Warbirds Museum on Wednesday, 5/6/26 for the EWM Monthly Dinner- You missed an awesome open-wheel race car driver in Kaleb Montgomery! Kaleb gave an action packed, off the cuff summary of his adventures on the track. The dinner attendees were treated to this dynamic speaker's ability to do some great storytelling as he makes his way up the path of racing hierarchy!
A big shout-out to the Woodland Family for allowing him the opportunity to speak at the dinner!
