Dale Evers, an innovative and skilled sculptor, trained under the
renowned John Jagger, who was the inaugural artist featured at
Sculpterra Winery in Paso Robles, CA. Evers often remarks, โWithin every person lies the power to
overcome adversity,โ a sentiment that reflects his own resilience and
dedication to his craft. Under Jaggerโs mentorship, he developed a deep
understanding of technique and fostered a profound appreciation for the
beauty of natural forms. Today, his sculptures are displayed in our
Sculpture Garden, inspiring visitors with their boldness and meaningful
symbolism.
His journey as an artist took a significant step with the creation of โMega
Focus,โ a striking 24-foot sculpture depicting the human figure as an
arrow drawn in a bowโsymbolizing strength and resilience. Installed at
Sculpterra Winery in 2013, this piece marked a major milestone, helping
to bring his visionary work to a broader audience. It established his
reputation as a sculptor unafraid to challenge conventions and craft work
that provokes thought and emotion.
Evers is recognized for his exceptional ability to merge fine art with
functional design. He creates eye-catching sculptures that serve as focal
points, along with water features and practical art pieces such as
sculptural tables and lighting fixtures. His proficiency across a variety of
mediumsโglass, bronze, and steelโenables him to produce creations
that are both visually stunning and purposeful.
A deep love for nature continually fuels Daleโs creativity. He dedicates a
significant amount of time to capturing the world around him through
photography, both above and below water, which often inspires his
artistic projects. His work vividly reflects the beauty and vitality of the
natural world.
Growing up in San Diegoโs lively surf culture, Daleโs connection to the
sea has been lifelong. His time stationed in Hawaii with the Armyโs 25th
Infantry Division only strengthened his appreciation for water and nature.
Eventually, a friendโs suggestion led him to settle in San Luis Obispo
County, where the coastal environment continues to influence his work.
โIโve been in the water my whole life,โ he often says, โand Iโve always
been captivated by the natural world.โ
The Sculpterra garden showcases Daleโs sculpturesโincluding flying
fish, dragonflies, large chimes, and โMega Focusโโcelebrated for their
vividness and unique craftsmanship. Over his career, Dale has sold
more than 20,000 sculptures, including over 1,000 tables, and has
completed commissions for notable clients such as the U.S. Olympic
Committee, the Alaska Airlines Memorial in Seattle, and the Cayman
Islands Department of Tourism.
For those interested in exploring more of Daleโs artistry, he maintains a
studio in downtown Paso Robles, where visitors can experience his work
firsthand and gain insight into his creative process.
